ratgirl_34's Journal Holy damn it's been ages since I've been on here. Any real changes to my life... I experienced another really low period, lasted about five minutes where I was seriously going to kill myself. But a pile of books fell over and scared the crap out of me. Turns out my theory of fear curing suicide works in my particular case. (See suicide comments below.) I currently have a hate on for guys in general, since the event that caused this low period was when the seemingly perfect guy dumped me for having a theological interest in witchcraft. I'll get over it, but the hate I have going is reinforcing my bi-curiosity. Ironic huh? He dumps me for one precieved sin, only to encourage another. I'm almost over it but the bi-curiosity isn't dimming so I might decide to take on more dating options. However, finding bi-sexual or homosexual girls who aren't minors in town is about as easy as finding a guy with a good personality. Bah. Good things that happened? I've been to China and got to see the Terracotta Warriors. That's something to scratch off a bucket list if I had one. I was so happy I almost cried, I've wanted to see those since I was really little. I read about them in a NG magazine, told my mom I wanted to see them, and over the course of the next few years settled into the idea that I would never ever see them myself. Last May, guess who bought the family a trip to China? My mom ^^ Current mood: Alright my opnions are a little different than the last time I posted on this (Yes I know I still have to finnish chivalry), but it's all pretty much the same. Here is what a person on gaia said that I totally agree with. Yami Mirai - "There is nothing wrong with suicide. A person's life is their own to live, and if they wish to end it themselves,it should be their right to do so. People say it's selfish, but by forcing people to continue living a life they don't want to live you're being selfish yourself. You are imposing your will on their lives and taking away a part of their freedom. Sure, friends and family will be upset when someone commits suicide, but people die all the frigging time! How is death by suicide any different from any other type of death? In the end the person is still dead. Only the means of death vary. People may be sad about the death for a while, but will eventually move on. However,if a person wants to commit suicide and is barred from doing so,they may not be able to move on with their lives. They may never change their minds about killing themselves and may forever resent the people in their lives who are preventing them from carrying out their wish. Each person who does commit suicide or wants to has his own reason for doing so. Who are we to judge whether that reason is "good" or not? Just because we may disagree with it,doesn't mean the suicidal person doesn't see it as good for them." Which is what I said previously... but mine was soaked in an unhealthy ammount of angst. Dictonary.com is my all time favorite search engine. It doesn't give me great details into what I am looking for but it does tell me other things I could look for when I go over to google. http://dictionary.reference.com/sea There you go. For the convienence of simply clicking. Rather than typing, searching, typing some more, and scrolling. From that alone we understand that it was a knightly thing. But who exactly were the knights? Well noble men of course. Not just your avreage peasant (of course I wont deny the fact that some of them may have started that way). Noble men (and women) were not the nice people we see in movies, who stop to help the peasant girl who is being attacked by someone. Sure some of them may have been that way, but for the most part they would have turned up their noses and moved on. Much like people did in, oh what the hell was the movie called... Ah whatever, I'm sure there can be a example fournd in almost any movie with a subway. But in the one I was thinking of, this girls father was being beaten and even thrown onto the tracks, and this place was full of people. All of whom continued on their way. Not one stopped to help, sure they might have called the police, but of course the ploice couldn't get there before the train. Chivalry only extended to people with high social standing in those days. A knight could rape any number of women from a village, provided none were noble. Raping a noble woman would get him killed (unless there was war ect... ect...). Now google on the otherhand can provide better detail that is not overshadowed by what I learned alittle less than four years ago. ............. Oh fuck it. I'm too tired to do this tonight. I'll post some sites so you have something to do with your time and finnish this later. http://www.chronique.com/ http://www.astro.umd.edu/~marshall/chiv http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/036 http://www.heraldica.org/topics/orders/ http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/84 Lets cut down to what I think of it. Before I do that I want you all to know I have not yet read any of the above links. I think chivalry in it's origonal form, died a long time ago. And was replaced by modern day manners. So girls, quit being so anal and let the guys hold the fucking door for you. In fact hold the door for them. That or take your 'equality' and shove it up your asses. And yes I am a girl... Ah veggies. I hope you guys don't mind me calling you veggies. I mean it in a nice way, really I do. It's not you I'm annoyed with, well not the few of you I have met anyway. I'm annoyed by the burger busters who harass you, and those of you who harass the burger busters. Seriously guys. Cut it out. None of you will ever win, because no one will admit that both of you are right. Sure 'meat is murder' to a certain extent. I mean sure those cows are for the most part butchered brutally, before being shipped off to McDonald's (mmmmmm... Big Extra with cheese...). And yes 'many animals died' to get the plants for a veggies salad. Veggies can be perfectly healthy in their eating habit's. So here goes most burger busters arguments!!! You can get all the needed amino acids for complete protein from plants!!! So you don't need to eat meat for protein. Hell, there are some amino acids found in plants that you will not get from meat :P Add more salads to your diets fellow busters. As for the veggies saying meat has unhealthy qualities.... Everything and anything can be bad for you if you eat it in the wrong proportions!! Geez! Come on, burger busters at least tried to come up with a good argument! I respect your views and choice, but do a tiny bit more research so I have to think longer before answering what seems to have been your main argument in every debate I've seen. Vegetarian facts (fun fun silly willy): There are several different kinds of vegetarians. The main four are vegan, lacto-vegetarian, ovo-vegetarian, and semi-vegetarian. Vegan: Will not eat meat or meat products. Lacto-vegetarian: Will include milk/products into their diet. But not meat or other animal by products. Ovo-vegetarian: Will eat eggs but not meat or other animal by products. Semi-vegetarian: (Since I couldn't remember the name of the poultry eaters I was forced to research this one. I'm not satisfied with what I found on it... But I'll live.) They will eat poultry, eggs, milk and fish. Pretty much lacto-ovo-whatsit :P Not to mention there are many others. Like the 'fruits' who eat, you guessed it, fruit rather than vegetables. So shut it with your 'meat is murder', 'can't get your protein', bullshit. Busters, go get some salads, it wont kill you to eat a chicken ceaser salad or whatever variation you come up with. Veggies, just shut it. You have nothing to argue, it's a choice you made, so quit bitching. How ever I will defy both of you by saying that I lean away from eating store bought meat (of course you can tell by my above comment that I have weak days like any other human being). I much prefer 'wild meat'. That's right. I'd rather shoot Bambi than Bessy. Yup, my family hunts their own meat. It is healthier than store bought meat, it tastes better than store bought meat, and we don't rely on TV commercials and ranch tours to know what shit was put into the animal we are eating. I also attempt to avoid genetically altered fruits and vegetables. As annoying as seeded grapes and oranges are, I can deal with picking them out of my braces, or simply spitting them out. However it would be easier if I lived where it is law for genetically (or otherwise) altered foods to be marked. As it is I buy something and hope it hasn't been so pumped with chemicals I develop a third eye :P :EDIT: Alright, here is another thing going against burger busters. And I quote 'YOU CAN NOT GET B-12 FROM PLANTS/VEGGIES SO YOU DO NOT HAVE ALL THAT YOU NEED TO BE HEALTHY YOU CAN ONLY GET B-12 FROM ANIMALS' Here is the site disproving that lame assed excuse of a statement. http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/b12.htm#po I'm HTML impared. So you'll have to copy and paste that. :Edit #2: Another direct quote, this one not sounding like a total moron; 'I was a vegetarian. I became enimic due to the fact that I couldn't get enough iron.' Here is a site that may help: http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/handouts/d Current mood: I don't see why suicide is discouraged. I'm not saying it should be encouraged. I don't think people should really do either. Sure tell a person why you think they shouldn't commit suicide but try not to make it sound like your telling them 'Thou shalt not commit suicide.' I was raised in a Christian home (not that I am Christian I just know alittle bit about it), and according to the Christian faith if you commit suicide you will go to hell. I have a question for Christians; If someone no longer cares what happens to them when they die (as in they don't care if they go to heaven or hell), doesn't that kinda mean they are already in hell? If so what difference does it make when they die (assuming there is a heaven and hell)? It's just another hell for them, only difference is they can't kill themselves to get away from it. And besides that, you can tell them as often as you want that they shouldn't kill themselves, but in the end you opnion is crap next to theirs. Your reasons for them living might not seem like very good reasons to them. The effect of their suicide on their family is not their problem anymore, they'd be dead for crying out loud. I'm not sure what good sending them to a councilor is either. Odds are the councilor doesn't know them, so they would spend ages getting to know the suicidal person during which time the person could kill themselves at pretty much any time. Or attempt to, not succeeding would only toss them into a mental hospital, which to my way of thinking would lower their self-esteem even more. Once all is said and done, whats the point of encouraging or discouraging? Sure you might make a difference for a little while. But when it comes right down to it your opnion is crap. |
